MICHAEL S. BRODER, Ph.D. is a psychologist, author, seminar leader, radio host, and lecturer. An early proponent of media psychology, he was the first president of the Media Psychology Division of the American Psychological Association. His media credits are extensive. He has hosted radio programs for WCAU and WWDB in Philadelphia; WOR and WABC in New York; as well as NBC Talknet and ABC Talkradio on the network level. Dr. Broder has made hundreds of national and local radio and TV appearances, including Oprah, Today Show, Donahue, Sally, Geraldo, ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, CNBC, etc. He has written for and/or been quoted in numerous popular and professional publications, including Newsweek, Time, USA Today, TV Guide, New York Times, L.A. Times, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Herald, Philadelphia Inquirer, Cosmopolitan, Ladies Home Journal, Redbook, McCall's, Family Circle, Broadcasting Magazine, Mademoiselle, First for Women, Self, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and hundreds of others. Dr. Broder is a veteran of five multi-city media/book tours in both the United States and Australia. Dr. Broder conducts a private psychotherapy and coaching practice in Center City, Philadelphia. In 1987, he founded MEDIA PSYCHOLOGY ASSOCIATES (MPA). MPA provides continuing education and other training programs for mental health professionals at all levels in cognitive behavioral and other short-term results-oriented psychotherapeutic approaches. MPA also provides seminars and consultation services to a wide variety of clients, including employee assistance programs, MCO, law enforcement, industrial, educational and governmental organizations. Dr. Broder earned his Ph.D. at Temple University. He has received worldwide acclaim for his groundbreaking work in some of the following areas: cognitive behavioral applications of audiotherapy, relationship counseling, divorce adjustment, short-term treatment approaches, stress management, police psychology (served as Stress Manager and Chief Psychologist for the Philadelphia Police Department), career change and media psychology. A popular speaker, he conducts seminars, talks and presentations to lay as well as professional audiences worldwide. Dr. Broder has served as an adjunct professor at The Union Institute, Temple University, Drexel University, University of Pennsylvania, Thomas Jefferson University, Rowan University, Chestnut Hill College and Philadelphia Community College. Dr. Broder is a member and divisional past president of the American Psychological Association (APA); a fellow and past board chair of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association (PPA); a fellow and former board member of the Philadelphia Society for Clinical Psychologists (PSCP); a member of the National Association of Radio Talk Show Hosts (NARTSH); American Association of Radio and Television Artists (AFTRA); National Speakers Association (NSA); Philadelphia Writers Organization (PWO) and MENSA. He is listed in Whos Who in America.
